The head of a Northamptonshire-based Formula One racing team has escaped a driving ban after he admitted speeding at more than 100mph on a dual carriageway.
Ross Brawn, the head of Brackley-based Brawn GP, whose team includes British driver Jenson Button, was speeding in his Mercedes E320 on the 70mph limit A30 at Sourton near Okehampton, Devon on May 30.

Plymouth Magistrates Court heard that the 54-year-old, from Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, was two hours late for an appointment in Cornwall after being held up by heavy traffic on the M4 and M5 motorways.
Brawn was not in court for the hearing and was represented by his lawyer Denis Brennan.

Mr Brennan told the court that Brawn, who has 33 years' driving experience, was aware he could be banned for the offence.
He said: "He does accept that on the issue of culpability he drove intentionally at speed.

"He is aware that he can expect to be disqualified. The traffic was light. He fully co-operated with the police. He apologises."
Magistrates ruled that Brawn should pay a fine of £700, costs of £75 and have his licence endorsed with six points.

See them motorways just aren't a place to practise your F1!

But serioulsy, that's dangerous and it's stupid he's not been banned, got points, etc because any other person would for doing that speed!

This annoys me that people get away with these types of thing just for a name, if anyone else did it they'd be banned :) oh well, he still got fined
