View Full Version : Terry might go to City
Do you think John Terry will make the move to Manchester City? He might be replaced by Newcastle's Steven Taylor.

This is an interesting one tbh, i dont really know wat to make of it.
Abramovich has lost a lot in the credit crunch but is still mega rich. I remember reading before how Chelsea had always intended to make the money they spend on players back through the market.
When you are a rich club there are two ways to lose money. People often forget about the second one. The first is signing expensive players and spending millions on transfers and wages. The second one though is in refusing to sell valuable players in big money deals, because you are rich yourself and so "don't need the money".
So if they are serious about making back all the money they'd spent those yrs ago on the best players and making it economically viable then they must sell Terry for £35m.
As for Terry, i think he'd go. He will argue that "Chelsea didnt do enough to keep me" but the truth is he wants the money - in my eyes not something worthy of the criticism these players get. If I was offered insane money like that I'd take it, regardless of whether Im already on a big money deal.
Im on the fence about whether i want him to go. At the mo City havent invested much in their defence and their defence doesnt yet compare with Liverpool, United and Chelsea's - so if Terry goes there we've got to start worrying about a "top 5". But if he does go then Chelsea will be weakened, and Taylor is very good but not used to the pressure of winning all the time so will take some time to mature in that respect.

not at the moment but bear in mind we're not even 25% through the transfer window yet. they've already signed Santa Cruz and Barry. If they dont get Terry they'll get Bruno from Porto and then maybe look at getting someone like Trezeguet or Ibrahimovic, and then who knows who they'll get next.
All im saying is if they sign Terry it is time to start worrying cus Terry is one of the best in the world and can make a big difference to a side's season. City won't win the title this season but they can sure put a dent in ours if they carry on signing big players.
Yep, I know I keep saying it, but 2 more great posts there Barcelonic :D
It says in that article he's on £130,000 per week now and City are offering £200,000 a week to Terry, why wouldn't he go? As you said, I think he'll go because of the money too.
As for City winning silverware this season, honestly I agree with Barcelonic about there being a possible 'Top 5' and it may become very tense at the end of the season between Arsenal and City on who gets 4th spot, this is in years to come though not yet.
I honestly think City could win say, the F.A Cup this year because the 'Top 4' willl be concentrating on the league more this year, especially United as they don't want Liverpool to win it. Maybe City can sneak it hmm :S

Agree with you on the Barcelonic posts :D
and terry, um I'm not so sure yep the moneys great but would he really want to go from somewhere he is well valued and captain of the team with a chance of winning silverware to city. I'm not so sure?
City will be a porblem for all the top clubs this season I think and the FA cup situation you mentioned may happen even if I really think I don't want it to :)
